Persepolis Reading/Graphic Journal

Essential Questions:
1.What are some universal aspects of childhood?
2.When does childhood end?
3.How are we impacted by our surroundings (social, religious, political) during childhood?

While you are reading, I would like you to keep in mind the first 3 essential questions above. After you have done the reading, select on graphic from the story and render it by hand into your journal (half a page). If you want to explore your creative talents, you can render your own drawing that you think represents a particular aspect of Marji’s story. Then write a journal entry (1.5 pages Honor; 1 page C1; .75 page C2) in which you explore the first three essential questions as they show up in your illustration and in the rest of the section. Don’t forget to consider the chapter titles!

In class, we will share illustrations and discuss the essential questions above. You will be required to take notes highlighting our discussion. These notes can also be graphic/illustrative in nature.

Entry 1 (1-32) Due 2/9
Entry 2 (33-61) Due 2/10
Entry 3 (62-94) Due 2/13-14
Entry 4 (95-118) Due 2/15
Entry 5 (119-153) Due 2/16
